About Musket Powder

Musket Powder is a small-batch seasoning company created to solve a problem familiar to many hunting families: getting wild game from the freezer to the dinner table with confidence.

The brand began in Oxford, Mississippi, where the founders spent their college years at the University of Mississippi hunting, fishing, gathering around backyard grills and tailgates. Like many college students, money was tight. They sometimes would supplement their food with wild game to feed themselves and their friends, saving what they could for nights out on The Square.

As their cookouts became a tradition, the founders noticed a recurring problem. More and more Friends constantly asked for them to cook their wild game, and brought it over to be cooked because they loved the amazing taste.

Using a family seasoning recipe they had relied on for years, the founders began mixing larger batches and handing them out in Tupperware containers and Ziplock bags. The instructions were simple: put this on your wild game and don’t over cook it.

The response was immediate. Developed specifically for wild game, the blend removed the guesswork, making it easier for home cooks to season confidently without relying on complicated recipes, specialty ingredients, or years of experience. What started as a family recipe quickly became a life hack for outdoor enthusiasts to use everyday to prepare wild game like experts.

Produced in small batches in Birmingham, Alabama, and a proud member of the Alabama Grocers Association, Musket Powder exists to help the average outdoor enthusiast fix wild game like an expert, ensuring that a hard-earned harvest doesn’t sit forgotten in the freezer and make sure every meal turns out amazing as long as it’s not overcooked.

In our opinion, most people who say they don't enjoy wild game have never had it prepared properly. More often than not, it's been improperly seasoned, overcooked, or both. If Musket Powder can bring out the best in wild game, imagine what it can do for the proteins bought in your neighborhood market place.
